Cross X O.

Day OneTwentyFive, October 20, 24 Miles
At Mile 2450, Poptart 878/1000
Despite the Elk buguling, full moon all in my face and the generators going all night in the hunters camp somewhere down there I still got a great nights sleep. The junction was unsigned and we were chatting. Of course we missed it. By the looks of footprints DIY had too. Through more pointy grass with powerlines guiding our way, we found our road and dropped down into T-Bar Canyon. Which was nice, but I wouldn't walk it again. Last road for a while took us to Snow Lake and the head of the Gila. The Gila Wilderness is the world's first wilderness area, designated in 1924. It's one of the highlights of New Mexico, if not the entire CDT. Even if it's not officially the CDT (the official trail heads up into the mountains). The route we'd chosen was the popular Middle Fork which would take us down the river on the canyon floor, fording the Middle Fork Gila River many times. Like hiking in New Zealand...
So we threw some fords, brushed against some pointy vegetation, sheltered in a cave from the rain and enjoyed the magnificence of this beautiful area.
