It's definitely a little awkward, but they're dancing anyway.

Day OneThirtyFour, October 29, 21 Miles
At Mile 2623, Poptart 964/1000
Another pre-dawn start. Sixteen miles into Deming. Hawkeye and myself spent about a mile collecting shell casings and the variety we picked up in that short time was scarcely believable. Ended up with about twenty different ones of all kinds of calibre. Americans and their guns. You have to be here to truly appreciate it. Never will understand though. Unless The Zombies come, then I know where I wanna be... The five miles of pavement dragged, but every mile eventually gives way to the next. Apparently Deming is the biggest town that the CDT goes through (even if we aren't actually on the 'CDT' any more, it's our CDT). And it goes right through the middle. Good because it has more than everything we need, bad 'cause we have to walk through it and it goes forever.
Had lunch at Palmas Italian which was deliciousness then caught up with trail angel Keith who took us back to his place. After showering and chatting we took Keith, who was celebrating his birthday, and his wife Mary to dinner at the funky Adobe Cafe. Which features many a dead animal and is rumoured to be haunted. Went back downtown to resupply at WalMart where I purchased up to and including the 1000th poptart. Halloween costumes were also acquired. We'd decided a while ago to do the last section in costume as we'd roughly planned to finish on November first, right between Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead). Don't need to ask me twice to partake in a dress up. No cardboard though. Choosing was made somewhat difficult when hiking appropriateness had to be taken into consideration but we all look awesome. Hiked the five miles back to Keith and Mary's place 'cause it's our trail and it makes tomorrow easier. Word.
